Radio Equipment

Part of this course is getting familiar with radio equipment. To start off a successful radio studio, they use acoustic tiles to prevent sound from coming in.

There are two types of microphones that are regularly used with in radio:

Omnidirectional microphone that collects sound from every direction.

A directional microphone receives sound from specific directions.

When recording a vox pop, especially when broadcasting from outdoors, for this type of recording: a type of sound muffler on a microphone is necessary as it absorbs the sound without any wind or rustling. This is called a microphone sponge.

In the studio professional equipment is used more, for example a pop filter; the pop filter softens explosive consonants such as B, K, P and more.
